Daoulas Abbey
Why take advantage?
Daoulas Abbey is currently closed. Reopening in April 2024.
A former monastery governed from the 12th century onwards by Canons Regular of the Order of Saint-Augustin, Daoulas Abbey still bears witness to its original splendor: a 12th-century abbey church (now a parish church), a Romanesque cloister with a remarkable basin, a fountain and a 16th-century oratory.
Exceptional gardens - the garden of simple plants, awarded the "Jardin remarquable" label, and the garden of medicinal trees, recently awarded the Victoire d'or at the Victoires du paysage 2021 awards - enhance the visit, hosting a wide variety of medicinal species to be discovered along a landscaped itinerary. Large-scale exhibitions showcase cultural diversity, with a rich variety of works and surprises on display.
In September 2022, Daoulas Abbey unveiled its brand-new visitor trail. This circuit, comprising some fifteen panels, offers an interpretation system as well as directional and informative signage on the built heritage and gardens. With a view to improving accessibility and visitor comfort, the tour now offers keys to the history of the site and the medicinal plant garden.
From April onwards, the Abbey's gardens are open to visitors for the Balades photographiques.
From June onwards, the Abbey unveils its major annual exhibition on a variety of artistic, archaeological, ethnographic and/or historical themes.
